Deep in the Brush with Death

Here's a recent commission I did of the characters Deadblow and Grifter. I really struggled with coming up with a composition for these two but once I settled on this it was off to the races. I'm really happy with how it turned out--it's almost exactly how I had pictured it!
That's not always the case...

Not only did you nail the look of Deathblow and Grifter, but you also designed a fantastic environment to put them in. Those ruins in the background are stunning! Great choice, Shane, and awesome execution, Brian!

Great illustration, Brian. I was never much of a fan of Image characters from the 90's, but Grifter was the exception to the rule. By far the coolest of the bunch. I really dig your version of him and Deathblow, and that jungle background is top-notch.

great characters, fantastic composition, and remarkable detail truly make this a stunning commission. i LOVE the depth of field of this piece. the light gray tones of the background really set it apart from the main action. brilliant!

Yes! Brian I agree with everyone else-- the attention you paid to the ruins in the background is incredible, and I love the composition!
