Colossus

I've had X-Men on the brain lately. I recently saw that X-Men 3 trailer (fastball special!), I just read the second trade of Joss Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men, and I'm in the middle of revsiting my childhood through Uncanny X-Men Essentials--the volume that covers the Mutant Massacre era. Hence the Colossus sketch.
Plus, Colossus is just awesome.

I miss when the X-Men were good, late 80's for me, Claremont, Romita, Silvestri, back before they became a franchise.

Amen! Those were the glory days. I started reading the "Uncanny" around ish 2oo. As much as I loved (and still love) John Romita Jr. my all time favorite artist of my early teen years was Marc Silvestri. I still think what he was doing back then was pretty excellent. That said I really think he took a turn around the time of the launch of Image and I really can't stand his stuff anymore, sad to say. Part of the problem there is that I think he's either a really poor storyteller or just a really lazy one. He seems like he might be the kind of artist who needs a tight script and a tough editor to keep him in line. Just my opinion.

I think you're an excellent artist, and it's great that you love the X-Men as well!
